Our host counts the turtles as pests that destroy the catfish with which he stocked the pond. He invited the boys to come help him deal with them. We are happy to go and do so.

Quite frankly, I think that shooting at turtles is a pretty lousy thing to do and a very poor lesson to teach the kids.

We did not have a trellis, Montucky. So if I missed a ground ball I had to chase it. But Dad and I were in the yard or over at the ball park two blocks away almost every warm day and dry day of the year. He loved the game and I was good enough to receive his praise. I loved having him play with the little guys today. I hope they remember it when they are teaching little boys to catch a ball.

Buy, that stirred up some fond old memories! When I was a boy we had a lattice fence across one end of our back yard and every evening I would take my position in front of it and Dad would hit me ground balls and coach me as I fielded them. That was by far the highlight of my young life!

Polarized by Politics, what a profound and descriptive phrase, Montucky. It would make a good book title.

I hope the movie gets a lot of play too. I'll plan on seeing it if it ever gets here. It's a sorry state of affairs when scientists are more concerned with promoting their own agendas than pursuing the truth, but we're seeing that more and more these days. It seems as though everything has become polarized by politics.

Your comment makes me realize all the more how I have wasted a resource at my fingertips over the past twenty years.

Library access is one of the very few things I really miss by being away from a city. The little town near where I live has one, but there are few books in it and hardly any of those are relevant. I remember how important the library was when my kids were small.
